Mountain Services

Since 1993 RSS has been providing mountain services to industry. RSS can provide tailor made solutions for the most demanding environments.

Coordination Centre
RSS can provide a dispatch centre to coordinate, dispatch and track workers and aircraft in the most demanding environments.
Incident Command Coordination
When the call for assistance comes in, RSS personnel can coordinate the emergency response using comprehensive protocols to ensure the rescue unfolds as planned.
Standby Services
Our rescue technicians, in partnership with the on site air carrier, will respond to requests for assistance. Rescue and evacuation of injured workers is conducted using a number of tools: sling systems, mule wheels, rope systems, ground and air evacuation. Class D Long Line Rescue System (Helicopter External Transport System) is available for most types of aircraft on site. RMS has an exclusive partnership with EMERGCO the original equipment manufacturer and designer of H.E.T.S. RSS H.E.T.S. operations comply with the Air Rescue Association of Canada best practices.
Rescue and Extraction
Accessing an injured worker in a remote setting is conducted using rope access techniques, ground and air evacuation methods. Steep terrain calls for specialized techniques in the event of a worker fall or injury. S.P.R.A.T, A.C.M.G. or equivalent accredited personnel supervise all operations.
Terrain Assessment
Alpine Specialist travel selected routes and grade the terrain on a scale of one to six utilizing the C.A.G.C. Terrain Assessment Guidelines.
Scouting and Route Finding
Where treacherous ground exists, Alpine Specialists can route find, detour, mark and lead workers in the safest manner for workers to access work-sites.
Survey Assist
Where necessary, Alpine Specialists can ensure the survey is conducted in the safest manner possible, assisting or taking on survey duties.
Recording Assist
Alpine Specialists lead and supervise workers, or can complete all aspects of recording; layout, pick-up or trouble shooting.
Clean-up Crews
When it is all said and done, Alpine specialists can quickly and safely traverse worn land to effectively trash seismic projects.
Confined Work Spaces
Terrain, once classified, will be marked as a site hazard and flagged to restrict worker access. Workers can access steep terrain utilizing a permit and monitoring system. Detailed entry, exit and rescue plans are developed. Alpine Technicians can supervise and assist workers to complete work as scheduled.
Mountain Safety Awareness Seminar / Crew Training
Alpine Specialists offer specialized training for supervisory staff and general safety awareness training. Training is tailored to individual and site specific needs, it can be as advanced as introductory mountain travel, or as simple as a basic wilderness travel orientation.
